To Pascu

In this performance, the reading of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in multiple languages is incorporated as a sonic backdrop. As the audio progresses, actions are carried out that encourage reflection on error and fragility, clearly alluding to the recurrent violation of the principles that constitute the said declaration. Towards the end of the performance, a string quartet interprets Johann Strauss’s Radetzky March, widely recognized for concluding the traditional New Year’s concert in Vienna. The reference to the Viennese concert is interpreted as a metaphor that, stemming from self-critique, addresses the cynicism and indifference towards the grave and persistent issues faced by the population of in the mislabeled Third World.
